Hillbilly Hyzers

Foot-stamping bluegrass with an authentic back-porch soul

The Hyzer Hillbillies are an authentic acoustic trio deeply rooted in the heart of the Delaware County music scene, serving up a vibrant blend of back-porch roots music, classic country, and Appalachian bluegrass throughout the Catskill Mountains. The band features the multi-instrumental talents of William Duke—who handles guitar, vocals, banjo, mandolin, and his famously unique "shovel guitar"—alongside Joseph Laureira on guitar and vocals, and Randall Parsons locking down the steady rhythm on bass. Together, they create a warm, foot-stomping string band sound that perfectly mirrors the rugged beauty and rich musical heritage of the region.

Known for their community-first spirit, the trio embodies the welcoming, grassroots energy of the local folk scene. They are staples at hyper-local mountain venues, farm gatherings, and community spaces like the Pine Hill Community Center, often lending their talents to benefits and fundraisers supporting regional food pantries and local causes. Whether they are tearing through a lively traditional bluegrass standard or sharing an intimate, stripped-down original story, the Hyzer Hillbillies bring an infectious, front-porch authenticity that turns any gathering into a neighborhood celebration.
